First things first…where exactly is Reggio Emilia? It is up North, situated between Milan to the North and Bologna to the South.

The American psychologist Jerome Brunner who was given honorary citizenship here in 1998 says, “ …Reggio Emilia is of a size that favours imagination, energy, community spirit…In Reggio Emilia one is given to meeting a rare form of courtesy, a precious form of reciprocal respect”.

To get here I flew three and a half hours to Sydney, fifteen and a half to Doha and finally six and a half to Milan. Thanks to Robbie Bell at House of Travel, Alexandra for a very smooth trip. I flew Emirates as they allowed the most baggage- 30kg + 7 kg carry on luggage (other airlines allowed 25kg). After that it was a forty minute train on the high speed Frecciarossa train to the very impressive Reggio Emilia AV Mediopadana train station. It was possible to book all the train tickets from home first.
