A classic street scene in Reggio Emilia.

Hi, I am Debbie, one of ten very privileged students selected to undertake the first ever PhDs in ‘Reggio Childhood Studies’ from 2019-2022. This is a collaboration between Fondazione Reggio Children and the University of Modena in Reggio Emilia, Italy.

For a long time it has been my dream to work closely with the Reggio Emilia approach.

In 2018 I graduated from the University of Otago in New Zealand with my Masters in Teaching and the Reggio philosophy informed part of my research. At the completion of my Masters I knew I would like to further my study if possible but wasn’t sure how it could happen. However, my intention was to continue to ensure that the Reggio approach was an anchor in my studies.

Through this blog I will be documenting my Reggio Emilia learning and adventures in Italy.
